It’s Customization Month on Android.Appstorm! Throughout March, we plan to share with you all our tips, tricks, apps and resources to help you improve your phone or tablet experience and make them suit your style.
Adding a new background image to your home screen is one of the quickest and easiest ways to customize your phone. Just as with your desktop computer, you’ll probably find that you have a number of built-in images to choose from, but in all likelihood you’ll want to choose something a little more personal such as a photo. But if you want something a little different, take a look at MultiPicture Live Wallpaper which brings animation to your backgrounds.
More than this, the app also enables you to choose a different image for each of your screens. This not only helps to keep things a little more interesting, meaning that you won’t get bored of constantly seeing the same picture, but also opens up the possibility of choosing images appropriate to the shortcut icons housed on a particular screen.
But the wallpapers can be functional as well as attractive. Some animations will change as you move you phone, while others are sound reactive – but there are lots of possibilities.
Working With Wallpapers
Fire up the app and the first thing you need to do is choose between having a unique wallpaper for each screen, or to use the same one throughout. If you have taken the step of arranging your shortcuts together into related groups, you can select wallpapers that are appropriate for individual screens.
There are also numerous wallpapers that serve a purpose beyond looking good. For example, the Candles wallpaper displays your remaining battery life through burning candles, while Fireflies displays more flies on the screen depending on the strength of your wifi signal.
You can check out any of the wallpapers by tapping the Preview button at the bottom of the screen, and if you like what you see, hit Apply – otherwise tap the back button. If you’ve decided to use a different wallpaper for each screen there are a few more options to configure.
Select the MultiPicture Live Wallpaper option, and then tap Preview followed by Settings. Tap the + button before selecting the homescreen whose wallpaper you’d like to customize and then tap ‘Screen x settings’. You can then opt to display a single image, or a slideshow based on a folder of images or an image gallery.
You’ll also notice that there is mention of using plugins.
Taking It Further
Any tool that allows for customization through the use of images offers unlimited possibilities, but with MultiPicture Live Wallpaper there are a number of approaches you can take. One of the most intriguing aspect of the app is its support for plugins.
Once you have the main app installed, you can extend its capabilities by using plugins that can pull in online images. There are various plugins available and they are a great option if you are already storing images online using the likes of Flickr.
