40+ Android Wallpapers To Automate With Llama & Tasker

We all love our wallpapers, don’t we? Be it on the desktop or on the phone, everyone likes using some nice artwork to customize the screens the way they want. We have covered wallpapers a fair bit here on AppStorm, so I’m not going to bore you with why they are so awesome and why you should get some. Instead, let’s do something different this time.

Ever wished the wallpapers on your phone changed automatically every once in a while? How about if they changed – not randomly – but based on a set of conditions. One wallpaper for the day and another for the evening, maybe? Or a different one based on whether your headphones are plugged in or not? Or maybe based on the weather outside? That would be helpful, wouldn’t it?

The Setup

Let me walk you through a few simple steps to get your Android device to do exactly that then. We will need the free Llama app for most of what we need to do, except for the weather-based wallpaper changes. You will then need the $6.29 Tasker app for that. And of course, you should have the wallpapers copied to your device – SD card or internal memory, it doesn’t really matter.

Here’s how to go about setting things up:

  1. The first step is obviously to install Llama from the Play Store.
  2. Once the app is installed, launch it and go to the Events tab.
  3. Tap the + button in the bottom-right corner to add a new trigger and action.
  4. Tap Add Condition at the bottom and select from the list of trigger events the app provides — for example Time Between.
    • You may need to provide more details once you select the trigger. In this case, the From and To time that denotes, for example, the morning.
    • You can add as many conditions as you want and set it so that either all of them need to be fulfilled or any one.
  5. Now tap the Add Action button at the bottom, hit Wallpaper in the list and choose the wallpaper you’d like to use.
  6. Give this ‘event’ a descriptive name, and go ahead and add some more.

That is quite easy, right? However, Llama does not support weather conditions, so you will need Tasker installed if you want to automate weather wallpapers based on current conditions. The Tasker Wiki has an excellent run through of the process of setting this up with Tasker in detail here. Check it out and come back for the meaty stuff, I’ll wait.

Now that you know how to set up your automated wallpapers, the obvious next question is going to be “Where do I get the wallpapers to match these conditions?”. Well, here is my personal selection of images carefully curated and categorized to match the most common conditions to set your wallpaper against.
